Second Home Real Estate News
Shutters & Sails has had a busy summer season. Late summer and early fall have seen an uptick in rental requests both for the summer of 2021 and for shoulder season and year around rentals. The sales market has been characterized by relatively low inventory, and buyers have been decisive as they zero in on the perfect purchase.
We have been reading the national real estate news, and think that in the 2020 COVID-19, working-from-home world, the Fishers market reflects some of the reported nationwide trends in both residential and second home sales. In fact, for Fishers, it appears that the line between a second home and a primary residence has been blurring as a significant number of seasonal residents have been extending their “seasons” by many months — and in some cases are considering making Fishers their primary residence.
While it is impossible to predict what will happen in the year ahead, some trends are worth noting: high volume of sales, low inventory of properties, shortening “time on the market” and extremely low mortgage interest rates.
Across the country, home sales have reached a high not seen since August of 2006. And, the press has noted the “second home as first home” phenomenon.
Shutters & Sails is here to help you with your plans to rent or to buy. And in the relative quiet of the fall and winter we are prepared to sit down, in person or virtually, to help you think through any plans you may be considering to rent, list for rent, buy or sell a property. All conversations are completely confidential, of course.
